Today my special guest to my pages about Greece is Maggy, a professional tourist guide with over 30 years of experience, fluent speaker of Spanish and English and a friend of mine. She is a very sociable and easy going person, one of those rare species, to whoom the intrusion of modern technologies in human relations hasn’t managed to corrupt or in any way change. She always prefers actually meeting her friends than sending them E-mails or keeping in touch with them through the social nets like Face book or Skype.
Here is what Maggy has to say about our subject:
“My impressions and my experience about Greece are first of all professional and then tourist and emotional, because I know Greece from the point of view of my job because I work as a tourist guide in this country. For me the best part of Greece is definitly Corfu Island and then come other locations. But I would like to tell you more about the professionalism of Greeks in the field of services and tourism rather than about the beauty of Greek nature. I think the professionalism of Greeks can compete with the founders of organized tourism like Switzerland, France and The United Kingdom. A tourist guide in Greece is always confident whatever problem occurs in a hotel accommodation or services, the Greeks are capable to solve it immediately for the benefit of the tourists. I would give you a simple example – there is a complaint from a hotel conditions, some tourists always think they have paid more for the service than it is offered or than they have expected. Then the Greek owner is ready to compensate, he would immediately buy 5 kilo of fresh sardine from the market, prepare it and organize unforgettable Greek Night for the group of tourist in such way, that they soon forget their quibbles and all have a lot of fun.
Cases like that are many in which Greek hotel owners are ready to give more from themselves for the satisfaction of their clients and we can all learn from for the benefit of better service and happy customers.
